Morgan acknowledged traffic disruptions while saying upgrades are necessary to address aging infrastructure and make use of time-limited federal and provincial funding. He again expressed support for a proposal to extend construction hours until 11 p.m., something both opponents challenged him on.
Pulling out a chart showing the breakdown of the city budget, Morgan said meeting Stevenson’s pledge would require roughly $70 million in cuts over two years. “There’s only so many places to cut, there’s no magic money in this, and Londoners deserve to know what is going to be cut if you can’t achieve a goal of under one per cent because you’re not going to find $70 million through efficiencies and service reviews,” he said.
