Patrick Brown’s Priority Issues

Riverwalk will help protect our downtown from flooding and unlock opportunities for housing, jobs and revitalization.

Transit Development:

I will continue working to deliver the Hazel McCallion LRT extension into downtown Brampton, expand transit capacity and improve connections across our growing city.

Riverwalk will help protect our downtown from flooding and unlock opportunities for housing, jobs and revitalization.

Public safety:

Ensuring Peel Regional Police has the officers, facilities and tools needed to protect residents, including the new 23 Division and modernized police infrastructure.

Healthcare remains a central focus:

Advancing Brampton’s second hospital, with a 24-hour emergency department, and the proposed Comprehensive Cancer Care Centre so families can access more care close to home.

Community Spaces:

I will also prioritize the Embleton and Howden recreation centre projects, new community spaces and the Brampton—Orangeville Rail Trail, giving residents more opportunities to stay active and connect.

How will you strengthen relationships and trust between police services and Muslim communities?

“

We have done this in Peel over the last 8 years and will continue that close relationship.

How will you work with mosques, Islamic schools, and Muslim organizations to improve community safety and emergency preparedness?

“

We meet regularly. We have members of the community in senior leadership positions in my office and the city.

What steps will you take to address Islamophobia and anti-Muslim discrimination?

“

We adopted all of NCCM’s recommendations against Islamophobia and we were first city in canada to do so.

How will you ensure Muslim residents and community organizations have a meaningful voice in municipal decision-making?

“

The community is intertwined in all decisions under my leadership.

How will you support Muslim organizations that provide community services, settlement support, youth programming, food assistance, and other essential services?

“

We do so through the region of peel.

How can the city provide a more nuanced approach to zoning for religious institutions (such as mosques) given their practices, cultures and needs differ?

“

We do so already by waiving development charges on prayer space.

What do you think is the greatest problem the ward is facing, and how do you plan to address it?

“

Economic aggression from the U.S. I released a 10 point tariff response plan earlier this year and it is listed on my website

How will you ensure that anti-racism and EDI policies explicitly recognize and address anti-Palestinian racism where it occurs?

“

We passed this at our council and built an equity unit at city hall.

How will you ensure that your city’s commitments to freedom of expression, anti-racism, religious freedom, and equal treatment are applied consistently across all communities, including when issues are politically contentious?

“

We have an agent at city hall to combat Islamophobia

Are there any other priorities or topic you would like to add?

“

We lead the charge against BILL 21, the mistreatment of muslim organizations from revenue canada and will raise our voice when allyship is needed without hesitation.
