Susan Stevenson’s Priority Issues

Support small business and main streets:

Reduce red tape, revitalize commercial corridors, improve safety in business districts, and create conditions where entrepreneurs can succeed

Improve transportation and mobility:

Reliable transit, safer roads, and practical transportation planning that keeps neighborhoods connected and get people where they need to go.

Strengthen practical partnerships:

Stronger collaboration with neighborhoods, businesses, health care providers, police, surrounding municipalities, and other levels of government.

Leadership that shows up:

Restore confidence in our city and ensure elected council listens to and works for the benefit of citizens.

Bring accountability back to City Hall:

Responsible spending, transparent decision-making, and a responsive City Hall.

Restore safety and pride in our neighborhoods:

London needs compassion with accountability, stronger enforcement, cleaner public spaces, and measurable results.

Stevenson again promoted her campaign pledge for an increase of less than one per cent in each of her first two years in office, followed by increases at or below inflation in the final two years. “There’s a lot of money to be had, and I’m committed to finding it. It will not be easy, but Londoners deserve to see us roll up our sleeves and find the room in our budget the same way they’re being asked to do it at home.”

Susan’s Answers: Muslims & Islamophobia

How will you strengthen relationships and trust between police services and Muslim communities?

How will you work with mosques, Islamic schools, and Muslim organizations to improve community safety and emergency preparedness?

What steps will you take to address Islamophobia and anti-Muslim discrimination?

How will you ensure Muslim residents and community organizations have a meaningful voice in municipal decision-making?

How will you support Muslim organizations that provide community services, settlement support, youth programming, food assistance, and other essential services?

How can the city provide a more nuanced approach to zoning for religious institutions (such as mosques) given their practices, cultures and needs differ?

What do you think is the greatest problem the ward is facing, and how do you plan to address it?

How will you ensure that anti-racism and EDI policies explicitly recognize and address anti-Palestinian racism where it occurs?

How will you ensure that your city’s commitments to freedom of expression, anti-racism, religious freedom, and equal treatment are applied consistently across all communities, including when issues are politically contentious?

Are there any other priorities or topic you would like to add?
