
Maryam Abouelela
Maryam is a third-year student at Huron University at Western studying political science and governance, leadership and ethics. Maryam was inspired to study politics by the Arab Spring where she was fascinated by the mass mobilization of people through social media. She spends her time outside of school working on impact projects targeting community needs. She is also a graduating seed lead from the first cohort of the Seeds of Leadership development program where she started 8 impact projects targeting various needs in her community. Two of her most notable projects were in collaboration with Nisa Homes DEEN Support services. She worked on improving the volunteer management system at Nisa Homes, an organization that supports Muslim women and children across Canada. She also worked on planning and executing programs for DEEN Support Services, an organization that advances community inclusion for families and individuals living with disabilities. Maryam is interested in politics, law and public policy.
