The Movement Continues: Beyond the Vote Summit
In August 2024, The Canadian Muslim Vote reached a groundbreaking milestone with the launch of its first-ever Beyond the Vote Summit. This national gathering brought together fellows from our Toronto, Ottawa, and Vancouver cohorts, as well as passionate young Muslims from across Canada, all united by a shared vision of building a more just, inclusive, and civically engaged society. The summit was more than a conference—it was a space for reflection, learning, and action, designed to inspire long-term engagement in public life well beyond casting a ballot.
Over three powerful days, participants engaged in dynamic panels, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities with community leaders and experts. Day 1 focused on the vital need for Muslim representation in politics, media, and governance. Day 2 centered on collaborative community organizing, highlighting the power of collective action and strategic partnerships. On Day 3, attendees tackled the challenges and opportunities facing Muslim civic engagement in Canada today—sharing bold visions for the future and the tools to make it happen. These sessions didn’t just inform—they activated. Attendees walked away with the confidence, resources, and connections needed to turn ideas into impact.
The Beyond the Vote Summit marked a defining moment in TCMV’s journey. It showed the strength of our national fellowship network, spotlighted the hunger for change among young Muslims, and laid the groundwork for a new era of sustained civic leadership. By empowering participants to see themselves as changemakers, not just voters, TCMV continues to shape the civic landscape of Canada—one conversation, one connection, and one community at a time.
