From Conversation to Change: Women in Politics

Empowering Muslim Women to Lead, Represent, and Inspire

In March 2024, The Canadian Muslim Vote (TCMV) proudly hosted Women in Politics, a panel-style event dedicated to amplifying the voices of Muslim women in leadership. This impactful gathering brought together inspiring speakers—Habon Ali, Iman Mohamed, and Councillor Sameera Ali—who shared personal stories, professional insights, and critical reflections on the challenges Muslim women face in the political arena. Their conversations touched on breaking systemic barriers, navigating identity in public spaces, and building resilience in the face of adversity.

Beyond inspiration, Women in Politics offered tangible strategies for overcoming gendered and cultural obstacles in civic life, and it highlighted the importance of representation and solidarity in driving systemic change.

This event was more than a conversation—it was a catalyst. It marked another important step in TCMV’s ongoing work to build inclusive civic spaces and empower the next generation of Muslim women to take on leadership roles in Canadian politics. Through platforms like these, TCMV continues to nurture confidence, provide mentorship, and strengthen the pipeline of diverse voices ready to lead with purpose.
